The demise of Tacoma Park
Some years ago when I was the president of the Tacoma Park board of directors, I worked with a woman who was getting a Ph.D. in history. Her dissertation was on the role that dance halls played in society. She had been told of the dance hall at Tacoma Park, and I helped her find people connected with it who she could interview. People working with her at her university thought the dance hall should be designated a national historic site. She started to collect information on its history. However, she got a job as a professor in a New England university and I never heard from her or about her again.
